In this Cool Video, MinutePhysics explains why there is no pink light. They do it in a highly entertaining fashion in a little more than 60 seconds. Yet, as other scientists argue, all our colors are a sensations of the brain. Color is not a function of light or reflections of light, but it is our brains making sense of the some of the different wave lengths of light.
In a similar way, our brains make sense of the different vibrations to fabricate sound. So in answer to the old question about the tree falling in the forest, it needs an ear to turn the vibrations into sound.
