This Great Graphic was posted by the Investment Company Institute. It offers a snap shot of flows into long-term mutual funds (which excludes money market funds). It also does not include exchange traded funds or mutual funds that invest primarily in other mutual funds. The most recent report covers the week through August 13.
That week, long-term mutual funds took in about $2.04 bln. The prior week (through August 6) there was a net outflow of $9.04 bln. As the table illustrates, that outflow was more than the previous three week inflows and last week's inflow combined.
In the equity space, investors continued to divest of US funds, while continuing to pour money into funds that invest internationally. The net equity flows are overwhelmed by activity in the bond funds over the past two reporting weeks.
