I thought 3D printing was cutting edge. It is being taken another step. It is 3D printing of materials with hinges that unfold, as it were after printing. It takes some time to get one head around it. To help, I have found two Cool Videos.
The first is sleek. It gives you a sense of what 4D printing is a little more than three minutes long.
The second is rougher and takes off the fine edge. "It is like printing a piece a paper that folds itself into origami." It runs about 2.5 minutes and leaves one with a better sense of how 4D printing works.
